"Selvam ethanai undu puvimedhe, avai yavum padaitha Tamil Nadu",
said Bharthiyar, which translates to "All the wealth that is there in the world 
lies in Tamil Nadu".

And that way, Bharathanatyam, the very pride of Tamil Nadu, certainly 
exemplifies the above phrase. Art is an extension of us, humans and 
Bharathanatyam is truly considered to be one of the finest forms of dance.

Ever since Bharathanatyam came to existence, there have been many 
dancers who have contributed and dedicated themselves to this great art
....for the sake of dance.

Shivakalalayam was started with the same purpose, in the year 1997, to 
contribute its share, in its own small way by spreading the divine art 
across the world. The dance school has one more dream and that is, to 
enable, economically weaker section of children who are interested but have 
been deprived, learn this classical art.

This Registered Institute was founded by Shiva Kumar, who is a classical 
dance exponent, in its own right. Presently, there are more than 50 
children learning under his tutelage and 10 of them have performed their 
Arangetram successfully.
